ECG AND RESPIRATION MONITORING
NEXAN NX-300
Nexan's NX-300 is an ambulatory ECG and respiration monitoring system. Previously, patients needing medium-term monitoring of ECG, respiratory and other physiological characteristics had to wear bulky data loggers that severely compromised their comfort and mobility. The NX-300 reduces the on-body equipment to a lightweight sensor connected to a small signal processing and transmitting unit. The physiological data are transmitted via radio to a data logger that may be carried by the patient, or kept within their vicinity. The logged data may be viewed locally or transmitted via modem to a remote monitoring system for analysis.
The system has been nominated for a European Design of the Year Award.
Hidalgo was able to assist by:
- organising a project feasibility study to identify design concepts
- assisting with the capture of system requirements and design information
- providing project management services and technical resources to develop the overall product design concepts for each of the system elements and deliver them into production
- designing a novel low power 868MHz/916MHz RF packet radio link
- protocol specification
- software development
- assisting with developing the integration test planning and execution. This included meeting the necessary requirements of the European Medical Devices Directive and the US Food and Drug Administration.
